Step In, Step Up

Step In, Step Up is RN Employment’s signature program, created and delivered in partnership with Balanced Choice.

Together, we designed this program to improve the health and wellbeing outcomes for our local clients and received funding from the Federal Government’s Indigenous Skills and Employment Program.

In February and March, we had a group of young women join Step In, Step Up and enthusiastically complete the 4-week program.

We always start Step In, Step Up by having a yarn with our participants to get to know them, what goals they have, the types of sessions will be most beneficial to them, and what job opportunities they are interested in after graduation.

Our team and Adma Drake from Balanced Choice then delivers a tailored program with daily sessions.

Across the 4-weeks, the young ladies completed their White Card certifications and a cultural awareness training.

The also attended Women’s Yarning, ‘No More Violence’ and gardening/ bush tuckers sessions, as well as an open yarn with the NT Police.

This was alongside their gym, fitness and outdoor activity sessions like paddleboarding at the dam.

To support their movement, our team took them shopping for trainers and provided a special branded workout kit. The ladies loved it and looked awesome working out together!

At the end of the 4-weeks, we proudly celebrated their graduation.

Congratulations to Tamika Corbett, Beyoncé Spratt, Danielle Shannon and Cheryline Weston!

Their next steps are working with our team to find jobs that align with their new skills and be supported into long-term employment.
