Inspiring community activities at Docker River

In a wonderful initiative RISE‑Ngurratjuta at Docker River are In preparation mode, in the pursuit of entering the Tidy Towns 2020 awards.

Our team are in the process of putting together a Work Crew of Rise-Ngurratjuta Activity participants from the community, to commence clean up work around the General Store, Arts Centre, Day Care Centre, local Primary School, Youth Recreation Centre and Church.

In addition to this, the work crew will work together with community members who wish to actively participate and require assistance in cleaning up their yards.

Furthermore, they will endeavour to assist in the planting of native trees, shrubs and fruit trees as well as offer the opportunity to create vegetable gardens in each yard for those who would like to grow their own at home.

This inspirational collaboration between Rise-Ngurratjuta and the community, together with the assistance of the Macdonnell shire and its resources, will be the pathway towards creating a positive long term community outcome for all in Docker River.

In achieving this goal, it will also benefit the community in its plans for a Recycling Plant, Men’s shed, and towards future tourism development plans that have been proposed.
